Fernando Carrillo took part in a tense exchange with Lili Estefan during an interview on El Gordo y La Flaca, where he said he felt betrayed by the host after she unfollowed him on social media.

The encounter, also hosted by Raúl de Molina, took place as Carrillo once again defended his political stance and his continued support for Nicolás Maduro.

The tension escalated when the actor publicly reproached Lili for distancing herself from him over ideological differences.

“I greet both of you, whom I’ve always loved very much, but I don’t know if you are friends or ex-friends,” he said at the very beginning.

Direct Accusations and Old Wounds Between Fernando Carrillo and Lili Estefan

Carrillo said the presenter caused him deep pain by publicly distancing herself. “I must be hurt because Lili unfollowed me… she called for people to unfollow me with that action,” he said, visibly affected by what happened.

The accusation caught Lili Estefan by surprise, and she responded bluntly, taking the opportunity to explain the reasons behind her decision. “I only unfollowed you out of respect for millions of Venezuelans who were going through a very difficult time,” she explained.

The presenter detailed that the actor’s public stance—portraying Venezuela as a country without crisis—contradicted the reality faced by thousands of families. “Millions of Venezuelans have left Venezuela because of the dictatorship, Fernando, and you know it,” she continued.

Lili also said the actor had used his image to promote the Chávez-aligned government. “I can’t follow you out of respect for the Venezuelan people,” she concluded.

Accusations of a “Communication Dictatorship”

In response to Lili Estefan’s remarks, Carrillo raised his voice and claimed he had been unfairly silenced for years.

“A communication dictatorship is what has been applied to Fernando Carrillo for the past 20 years,” he said. The actor asserted that even Lili had contributed to that alleged censorship and described the situation as a “betrayal of friendship.”

Despite the tension, he said he continues working on new projects and series. At another point in the conversation, he again defended Delcy Rodríguez, whom he has referred to as “the great love of his life.”

“If María Corina had won, she would be governing, not the most intelligent woman in the country,” he said in defense of chavismo. Those statements reignited criticism on social media.

A Closing Marked by More Controversy

Near the end of the interview, Fernando Carrillo addressed Venezuelans living abroad. “It’s time to come back; Maduro is no longer there, there should be no excuses,” he said.

He urged migrants to return and work for the country, as he claims to be doing himself. “Come and work for Venezuela… come back,” the actor insisted.

The exchange made clear that the differences between Fernando Carrillo and Lili Estefan are far from being resolved.

The moment marked one of the most tense segments the program has seen in months, according to La Opinión.
